Shortest Path Planning for a Tethered Robot or an Anchored Cable

چکیده
We consider the problem of planning shortest paths for a tethered robot with a finite length tether in a 2D environment with polygonal obstacles. We present an algorithm that runs in time O((kl +l)2rL4) and finds the shortest path or correctly determines that none exists that obeys the constraints;here n is the numberobstaclevertices, and kl is the numberloops in the initial configurationof the tether. The robot may cross its tether but nothing can cross obstacles, which cause the tether to bend. The algorithm applies as well for planning a shortest path for the free end of an anchored cable.

An Improved Algorithm in Shortest Path Planning for a Tethered Robot
There is vast amount of literature focusing on motion planning for general robots. However, the same studies for tethered robots have not been investigated much. While a robot navigates in an environment with obstacles, it may meet some problems, such as a lack of power supply, or losing its wireless communication connection. If a robot is attached to a flexible tether, it can obtain sufficient...
متن کاملHomotopic Path Planning on Manifolds for Cabled Mobile Robots
We present two path planning algorithms for mobile robots that are connected by cable to a fixed base. Our algorithms efficiently compute the shortest path and control strategy that lead the robot to the target location considering cable length and obstacle interactions. First, we focus on cable-obstacle collisions. We introduce and formally analyze algorithms that build and search an overlappe...

Planning robot trajectory is a complex task that plays a significant role in design and application of robots in task space. The problem is formulated as a trajectory optimization problem which is fundamentally a constrained nonlinear optimization problem. Open-loop optimal control method is proposed as an approach for trajectory optimization of cable parallel manipulator for a given two-end-po...
متن کاملCoordinating Robot Motion, Sensing, and Control in Plans LDRD Project Final Report
The goal of this project was to develop a framework for robotic planning and execution that provides a continuum of adaptability with respect to model incompleteness, model error, and sensing error. For example, dividing robot motion into gross-motion planning, fine-motion planning, and sensor-augmented control had yielded productive research and solutions to individual problems. Unfortunately,...
متن کاملStudy of Evolutionary and Swarm Intelligent Techniques for Soccer Robot Path Planning
Finding an optimal path for a robot in a soccer field involves different parameters such as the positions of the robot, positions of the obstacles, etc. Due to simplicity and smoothness of Ferguson Spline, it has been employed for path planning between arbitrary points on the field in many research teams. In order to optimize the parameters of Ferguson Spline some evolutionary or intelligent al...
